We now perform SSH Host Key connection checks before connecting to any remote host.

By default, this security feature is enabled on newly connected servers, preventing us from logging into your server if the host key does not match. For example, when you:

  • Preprovision a server
  • Change DNS and point to a different machine by mistake
  • Lose a floating IP
  • BGP poison attacks

While the risk was minimal, we saw it fit to add this extra level of security. You can also see the Acsci art form of your host keys to confirm the connection is correct visually.

This feature can be turned off if you do not wish for the extra check level in cases where you expect the host key to change. You may be better suited for agent-based backups. (Existing customers will need to manually enable this feature)

We are pleased to announce a new backup Recipe Cloudways backup. With our close relationship with Cloudways it was only fitting to provide a bespoke backup recipe for Cloudways.

Via SnapShooter, you can now backup all of your applications on your Cloudways servers via one simple to manage the process. SnapShooter will scan your server at a backup time to find all your WordPress, Laravel and Magento sites to perform a backup.

We have added support for backing up data from your running Docker Containers, allowing you to quickly backup your container data without setting up networking internally in your host machine or installing recipe-specific requirements for it to work.

Docker Runtime is now available for MySQL (Single + All), PostgreSQL (Single), and MongoDB (Single).

We have made several changes to our Droplet Scheduling to provide better scale and service and spread our peak loads.

Droplets will be scheduled in advance of their slot and shown in the UI. This can happen up to 40 minutes before the backup window. The scheduler has built redundancy to attempt to schedule the backup multiple times before the backup slot.

During the backup window, your backup will start; for free customers within an hour slot and paid users within 15 minutes.
